Our Farm
We have mastered the craft of cultivating resilient and thriving snails within a carefully controlled and nurturing setting. Our snail farm boasts cutting-edge facilities that adhere rigorously to stringent hygiene and sanitation protocols, placing the utmost emphasis on the contentment and welfare of our snails to promote their flourishing.
Our distinctive edge lies in our unwavering dedication to quality and sustainability. We employ eco-conscious farming methods that minimize our ecological footprint. Our snails are nurtured on all-natural and organic sustenance, guaranteeing their well-being and yielding nutritious snails devoid of any harmful chemicals or additives.
Our farm is nestled in South Africa on a sprawling 3,300 square meters of lush farmland. Our unique habitat is crafted from shade netting and natural wood infrastructure, providing an ideal sanctuary for our thriving snail community. Within our farm, 2,000 wooden boards comfortably house hundreds of thousands of content snails.
What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to a chemical-free environment. We prioritize environmental health by selecting untreated wood for our boards, structures, and farm infrastructure, preventing the introduction of harmful chemicals. This choice not only ensures a chemical-free environment but also fosters ecological balance, promotes soil health, and establishes a foundation for long-term sustainability on our farm.
To maintain the perfect conditions for our snails’ well-being, we’ve implemented an innovative irrigation system that ensures the boards stay consistently moist, meeting the snails’ moisture requirements.
Our farm utilizes borehole and dam water, tapping into groundwater for a consistent, high-quality water supply. Borehole water, sourced from beneath the ground, undergoes routine testing to ensure its purity. The dam serves as a reservoir, storing water during rainy periods and releasing it strategically for irrigation during dry spells. This managed approach optimizes water usage, maintains a reliable water supply for our snails, and aligns with sustainable agricultural practices that balance water needs with environmental considerations, all while minimizing the impact on the community’s water supply.
Our farm leverages solar power as a clean, renewable energy source to minimize our carbon footprint. A generator acts as a backup during low sunlight periods, creating a hybrid system that optimally balances sustainability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
This approach allows solar energy to cover the base load, with generators supplementing during low solar production. By combining these sources, our farm contributes to global efforts to combat climate change and supports a cleaner, healthier planet through a sustainable and socially responsible energy alternative.

Our dedicated team rigorously tends to our land, conducting regular health checks on the snails, monitoring soil quality, and implementing routine pest control.
We’ve introduced earthworms to our farm to enhance soil quality by aiding in organic matter decomposition, soil aeration, and nutrient cycling.
This proactive approach ensures our snails enjoy a healthy and fertile environment, conducive to both contented living and successful breeding.
REPRODUCTION
BREEDING ROOM
Our dedicated indoor breeding facility serves as the controlled hub for our primary snail reproduction and hatching activities. Within this specialized space, our snails are carefully bred, and their eggs are incubated to ensure a healthy snail population.
Comprising 10 untreated wooden tables, each capable of comfortably accommodating 2,000 snails, our breeding room aligns with our commitment to maintaining a chemical-free environment for our snails. It’s crucial to provide the precise environmental conditions snails thrive in, including specific temperature, humidity, ventilation, and lighting. To achieve this delicate balance, we rely on air conditioners, humidifiers, fans, and custom lighting systems. Sensor technology constantly monitors these parameters, automatically adjusting them to ensure the optimal range is maintained. Our lighting operates on timers to strictly adhere to the light-dark cycle.

We employ a carefully structured feeding regimen for our snails on the farm. While supplementing with cabbage during planting cycles, we provide our snails with a daily diet of “slakmeel”, a specially formulated organic feed designed to provide all the essential nutrients they need for robust health, which is meticulously measured in grams to prevent hunger.
24 / 7
Monitoring
Our breeding room receives round-the-clock monitoring and maintenance, seven days a week. We keep detailed records and adhere to a regular cleaning schedule using organic products to eliminate harmful bacteria and pests while minimizing any disturbances to the snails and their immediate environment. We uphold a strict “no-touch” policy to prevent unnecessary stress and discomfort to our snails, allowing for cleaning activities to proceed around them with minimal disruption.

Transformation
Development
Within our breeding room, each table comprises 28 laying tubs filled with soil. Once our snails have deposited their egg clusters into these tubs, they are removed from the tables and the egg clusters are gently extracted by hand and transferred into containers, which are placed on designated shelving for incubation.
Snail eggs undergo a transformation process, gradually developing into what we refer to as hatchlings. The breeding room creates a controlled environment which aids in the successful morphing of the eggs. As the hatchlings meet specific size criteria, they are relocated outdoors to our field where they will continue to thrive and grow until they reach maturity and become ready for harvesting.
